Kiwifruit
The Agricola Policy is designed to cover loss
of yield of Kiwifruit due to hail or frost damage suffered during
the policy period.
Insured Perils
The policy offers cover for your kiwifruit against hail and
frost damage. You may select one or both of these perils.
Insured Value
Cover is offered on a dollar per hectare basis. You nominate the value per hectare within a set range. This may reflect your gate return or, alternatively, your production costs.
Green Kiwifruit set range: $10,000 to
$35,000/ canopy hectare
Gold Kiwifruit set range: $10,000 to
$45,000/ canopy hectare
Excess
An annual percentage excess will apply to losses suffered during the policy period. You may suffer multiple losses from the same peril during the policy period but you will only pay one excess. The percentage excess applied depends on the cause of the loss.
Frost related
Losses:
20% of the orchard sum insured subject to a minimum of $5,000 and a
maximum of $50,000 per orchard
Hail related
losses:
10% of the orchard sum insured subject to a minimum of $2,500 and a
maximum of $25,000 per orchard.
Policy Commencement
There is a waiting period of before cover can commence. For
Frost this period is 168 hours after the 4:00pm on the day we
receive your signed quotation acceptance but not earlier than 1
September.
For Hail the waiting period is 48 hours after 4:00pm on the day we
receive your signed quotation acceptance but not earlier than 1
September.
Policy Expiry
Regardless of when cover is taken the policy will cease when the crop is picked or at 4:00pm on the following dates, whichever is earlier.

North Island Expiry Date: 4:00 pm 15
June
Efficient Claims Settlement
Agricola continues to receive much praise from growers for our efficient claims handling. Following a loss you must complete a Loss Notification Form and submit it to Agricola within 48 hours of the loss. An assessor will contact you, usually within 48 hours, to arrange an inspection of your orchard. Agricola’s loss assessors are professional and experienced in all aspects orchard agronomy.
